This large wooden sign, which may have sat above a doorway or even part of an elaborate bed, adopts a curved shape and features three compartments with scenes. This red painted panel displays palace scenes, with gilt hand carved scholars and courtesans. This Chinese 19th century hand carved wooden sign with scenes would be an uncommon adornment in most homes, perhaps above a doorway in a foyer or installed on a wall in a living room.
