Limestone Gothic Revival Mantel in the Manner of Pugin

About the Item

A mid-19th century English, Gothic Revival fireplace. This fireplace bears similarities with two surrounds supplied to Presentation Convent, Co. Waterford, designed by Augustus Pugin and completed by his son Edward Pugin. Carved from Caen limestone, with marble columns. Removed from a private residence in the North of England. Additional Dimensions: Opening Height 84.5 cm Opening Width 91.5 cm Width of the mantel 133 cm Width between the outside of foot blocks 148 cm.

    Good structural condition. Some natural discolouration to the left foot block. Small chips and losses consisted with age and use. Supplied as seven components, ready for reassembly. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor Losses, scuffs, and scratche.
