Victorian Burnished Cast Iron Coalbrookdale Chimneypiece
About the Item
A very large and fine example of a Victorian burnished cast iron Coalbrookdale chimney piece in the Georgian neoclassical manner of Robert Adam. The decorative urn on the freeze beneath the wide shelf is flanked by swags which in turn are flanked by pairs on lidded urns on the end blocks above twin pilasters with descending foliate detail.
English, the Coalbrookdale foundry mark and the number 367840 are on the back as is shown in the last image and date it to 1881.
