"At Balcony's Edge, " Masterful Art Deco-Cubist Bowl by Claude Levy for Primavera
About the Item
A masterpiece of Art Deco design showing the strong influence of French Cubism, this bowl depicts clusters of highly-stylized figures to the right and left, evidently on the edge of a balcony overlooking the city, with buildings to be seen in the distance. The heads have an African-influenced stylization, which impacted Picasso, Modigliani and many other important artists in the 1910s and 1920s. The artist, Claude Levy, created a number of important ceramic pieces for Primavera, the famous shop established by Le Printemps department store, as well as Longwy.

- Art Deco Longwy Primavera ChargerBy Atelier Primavera au PrintempsLocated in Oakland, CALongwy ceramic Art Deco charger, over 16 inches in diameter. Artist signature Olesseruez designed and executed by Primavera atelier. The Primavera design studio pieces manufactured by Longwy are some of the most collectible and highly sought after period ceramic pieces from this golden era of Longwy earthenware production. Primavera was the design studio of the Paris department store “Les Grands Magasins du Printemps”. They tend to be more cutting edge, modernist and artistic designs. This is a rare model, not a typical Primavera production and is also signed directly by the artist and the stamp from Atelier Primavera not seen often.
