This is an extraordinary amber colored resin sculpture of a Classic male nude fragment by artist Dean Kugler. Attention to detail and complete understanding of the human figure are evident. The sculpture is beautifully custom mounted on a steel base with a rust patina. Dean Kugler Relic 1 resin 23.50h x 20w x 6d in 59.69h x 50.80w x 15.24d cm Kugler uses scale and the juxtaposition of disparate elements in order to engage and challenge the viewer. He combines elements such as strength and weakness or beauty and damage to be experienced simultaneously within the same piece of work to create a tense energy. Kugler also incorporates the technical skill of tight rendering with the dynamism of abstraction to create this energy to add additional excitement and intrigue to his aesthetic.   Dean Kugler is a seasoned interdisciplinary artist, painter, and figurative sculptor. His 3D work is featured primarily at Gallery Victor Armendariz in Chicago. In the last three years, Dean has also been featured at Abend Gallery in Denver, The Figge Art Museum, and Bereskin Gallery in Iowa. He has shown at SOFA Chicago in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and participated in ArtPrize in 2013, 2014, and 2015. He sees himself primarily as a sculptor due to the challenges he finds and thrives on within the process. In all its beauty, crudeness, and subtleties, the figure offers infinite opportunities to express feelings and emotions. There is also a physicality to sculpture that requires the work to be experienced through movement in order to reveal more about the piece. Dean has always been drawn to the interactive nature of large-scale sculpture that is available to the public - he loves the idea that his work entices the observer to go beyond what they can see and add tactility to the experience. By using both realism and abstraction, he creates a visual that challenges the viewer to resolve what they are seeing. Therefore, providing a greater connection between the artist and the viewer. The “Surolù” art works - this is artistic identity chosen by Vanessa Semaino - arise from the artist 's need to represent women’s condition today, particularly in their emotional states that confer their unique identities. These precious ceramic sculptures, entirely handcrafted and decorated, represent female Moor’s heads. They were conceived as an expression of an introspective journey that relates Vanessa’s Sicilian origins and to her professional experience in the fashion stylistic field. The artist introduces, for the first time, the repeated use of sociological themes of current relevance through a visually immediate language, represented in her art works with a contemporary pop aesthetic. In contemporary art, the interpretation of the seven deadly sins offers artists an opportunity to explore the complex nuances of humanity. Antonia is a particularly intriguing and fascinating artwork that embodies the sin of gluttony in the reinterpretation of the seven deadly sins. The woman depicted is a clear homage to Holly, the famous character from the renowned film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” In the artwork, “Antonia,” a woman of great elegance, wears the iconic black dress with long gloves and a beautiful pearl necklace, which strongly allude to the film’s most iconic scene. In it, there are recognizable references to Grimhilde, the witch from “Snow White”, the Queen of Hearts from “Alice in Wonderland,” and Cruella De Vil, all aimed at portraying envy in a world dominated by social media and the constant quest for approval and affirmation. The artwork is named after the evil queen from Snow White, and her figure is made evident by the turban that frames the face, emphasizing its features and wrinkled expression. The dress, with a black and white checkered pattern with red details, evokes that of the Queen of Hearts, as seen in the large red hearts decorating the crown, replacing the traditional acanthus leaves of typical Sicilian Moorish heads...
