Antique Bronze Sculpture, Signed "Barye", Basset Hound, Antoine Louis Barye

About the Item

This particular bronze sculpture of the famous model of Antoine Louis Barye (1796 - 1875) shows a great elaborated basset dog. This version of Barye´s "Chien Basset Debout" was first modelled in the 1830s and listed in the sculptor´s first catalogue in 1847. The base is signed "BARYE". This reproduction was poured around 1920. Rich brown patination.
