Antique French Ram's Head from Butcher's Shop (19C)

About the Item

Antique French Cast Iron Ram's Head from Butcher's Shop An original cast iron ram's head that would have adorned a boucherie / butcher's shop interior. A well-proportioned solid piece in quality casting with its original polychrome paintwork. The piece is mounted on an oak board with a moulded outer edge with a metal hanging plate to the rear with fittings. Good original condition with minor age-related chips on paintwork (please see photos). Height: 29 cm Width: 20 cm Depth: 17 cm Circa: Nineteenth Century

The mirror is held in a lyre support with brass wingnut adjusters. The white variegated marble top features on the top surface and three surrounding sides. The full-width drawer is of dovetail construction and has an attractive book-matched walnut front with a turned drawer pull.
