Anasazi Chaco Native American Pottery, Black on White Pitcher

About the Item

Stunning piece of Native American pottery. Pitcher has a round body and a thick handle that includes an applied snake. The white-ground exterior features a band of vertical lines and serrations presented in an applied black pigment. Believed to be from the Southwestern Chaco Canyon, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan) Native Americans. Anasazi pottery was made by hand coiling clay, then smoothing the surface and painting with designs before firing. This is a unique piece of ancient Native American pottery.
