Austrian Antique Art Nouveau Hand Painted Handled Vase by EW

About the Item

This stunning and graphic Art Nouveau vase was realized in Austria circa 1910. It features a circular base with a gourd form body that ascends into a slender undulating neck and a scalloped top. The base is glazed in a rich tan hue with 24kt gold detailing while the orbital body is composed of a cream colored base with a wealth of handpainted flowers including heirloom rose and echinacea blossoms, creating a vibrant yet restrained floral palate. The neck is a limestone and cream gradient that ascends into a solid celadon with 24kt gold neoclassical detailing at its top. The sculptural tan hued handles resemble stylized gargoyles, and most clearly identify this piece as belonging to the Art Nouveau period. With its beautiful craftsmanship and wonderfully idiosyncratic aesthetic, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of fine Art Nouveau design as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. It is signed EW on its base with the maker's proprietary stamp and is in excellent vintage condition. Austria, circa 1910. Dimensions: 8" diameter X 12.5"height.
