Flower Vase, Egyptian Décor, Majolica, Julius Dressler, circa 1890, Bohemia

About the Item

Very interesting majolica vase, made by famous Julius Dressler from Bohemia, in the end of the 19th century. Due to the boom and the particularly great interest in the Egyptian excavations at that time, the choice fell on this décor of this vase. The object is covered all over with hyrogliphs and the top of the vase is decorated with rams' heads. These allude to the famous ram figures in the Temple of Karnak. The color scheme of the vase is red, black, white and gold. On the bottom is the mark of Julius Dressler. Measurements approx.: height 21,1 cm - 8,3 in, diameter 8,9 cm - 3,5 in This exciting object is wonderfully designed and is therefore so extraordinary because it reflects the interest in foreign cultures at that time.
