A garniture of three antique English porcelain vases, heavily decorated
About the Item
A garniture of three antique English porcelain vases, heavily decorated with hand made porcelain flowers and hand painted with wonderful flower cartouches in the Dutch style.
The porcelain is most likely to have been manufactured by John Ridgway as the quality of the porcelain and painting is very high quality.
There is another English porcelain manufacturer whose wares are very similar, Coalbrookdale , but as none of these pieces bear the maker’s mark one can only guess. Definitely made around the 1840’s and definitely made in the Staffordshire area of Great Britain where both porcelain manufacturers were based.
The vases have a white background with coloured flowers and painted cartouches with beige overtones on the handles, moulded in the shape of large leaves, and at the base of the vases. The edges have gilded rococo designs.
Made to sit on a mantle shelf , in front of a mirror where the beautifully decorated backs could also be seen, these trio of vases would have taken place of pride.
England circa 1840
