Travertine Stone Ashtray or Vide Poche, 1970s, France Very elegant ashtray or vide poche, French Mid-Century Modern. This ashtray was handcarved into a block of travertine stone, in the 1970s. Although the object is initially an ashtray, it can be used as a vide poche, or a decorative cup for jewellery. Its minimal and simple shape give it a sense of both chic and brutalist style.
