  • Art Deco Figure, Harlequin with Flute by Josef Kostial, Goldscheider Vienna
    By Goldscheider Manufactory of Vienna
    Located in Vienna, AT
Very rare Art Deco Goldscheider ceramic figure of the 1920s. Depiction of Till Eulenspiegel in a uniform costume with brown ribbons, framed by a black zigzag pattern, with matching shoes, a large ruff and a brown fool's cap, leaning on a pedestal covered with a colored cloth and playing a flute. 'Eulenspiegel' made his main entrance in English- speaking culture late in the 19th century as 'Owlglass', but was first mentioned in English literature by Ben Jonson in his comedic play The Alchemist. Designed by Josef KOSTIAL...
