Maximalist Midcentury Venetian Glass Decanter and Five Glasses, Never Used

About the Item

This never-used Midcentury (circa 1960s) handblown Venetian glass decanter and five cordial glass set is a maximalist's dream. The azure blue glass decanter has been gilded in 22k yellow gold around the belly of the decanter, along the elegantly curved spout, and around the rim of the base. Ruby-red glass bead embellishments are set within ornate gilding in a lattice motif. The stopper is original to the piece. Likewise, the glasses are gilded in a wide band around the rims, along the sides in the same lattice motif as the decanter, red glass beads set in the center of the gilding. Additional gilding encircles the base of each glass. The decanter measures approximately 15.75" tall with the stopper and 5" around the middle. Each glass measures approximately 6" tall. The set shows no signs of wear and the "Made in Italy" gold foil stickers are still affixed to the decanter and each glass, although during cleaning two stickers came off of two glasses; the sticker residue remains on one. I've seen other examples of this decanter and cordial glass set; but never in pristine, unused condition and that's what makes this set so special.

  • Pair Folk Art Paintings on Wood Panel, 1980s, by Moses Tolliver "MoseT"
    Located in Southbury, CT
My uncle Bob was a country lawyer in rural Alabama and Moses Tolliver was one of his friends and clients. The pair of original paintings you see here were given to my uncle by Mr. Tolliver in exchange for legal services in the 1980s. Both the human figure and the snake were painted on scrap wood paneling and each has an aluminum beer pull-tab on the back for hanging. The works have been framed so the pull tab is not visible; if you prefer, simply remove the frames and both pieces will be as created. The snake painting...
