Silver Spices Dish or Bowl, with Hallmarks, Spain, Córdoba, 18th Century

About the Item

Spice rack. Silver. DE CASTRO, Damian. SANCHEZ SOTO, Juan. Spain, Córdoba, second half of the 18th century. With contrast markings. Silver spice rack in its color with a frustoconical body, a sinuous lower edge that rests on scrolled legs with plant motifs, a hemispherical bowl without divisions, a dome-shaped hinged lid, and decorated with plant elements in high relief. On the lid it presents a rose, surrounded by a line of dots that creates waves. Contrasting marks place the creation of the piece in Córdoba, verified by Damián de Castro and by Juan Sánchez Soto (surely Cristóbal's son, brother), in the second half of the 18th century. Typologically, it is a spice rack belonging to a somewhat peculiar tradition or model, frequent in Córdoba and Madrid but also present in Gerona, Antequera, etc. Weight: 87 grams. · Size: 7,5x6x5 cm International Buyers – Please Note: for those articles that need Export Permits (those older than 100 years), the obtaining of the Permit will be processed without additional expenses (if you choose the seller sends it to you), but the period for the obtention of it may vary from 10 to 35 days.
