Pair of Jeweled Turquoise Hand Painted Porcelain Sèvres Candelabras

About the Item

A grand pair of sérves-like turquoise picture vases mounted as five light bouquet candelabras. Hand painted with scenes of a quaint European port town in the 18th century. Each vase showcases a figure group on each face, with one depicting the daily happenings in the town, such as a group of women filling up clay water jugs of water by a fountain and people peering off into the distance in search of boats, while the other details a young man's journey to the port town, from his boat docking, to meeting those who were expecting him. They are "jeweled" with bands of iridescent red and milky white enamel encircling the multiple tiers of ornament. The bouquet candelabra branches hold five candle lights and are cast in the forms of lilies and open roses. The pair are not currently electrified but can be upon request.  Date: 19th Century Origin: French Dimension: 29 in x 14.5 in
