Set hand-forged Fiddle Thread & Shell silver cutlery for 12

About the Item

Victorian hand-forged silver cutlery set for 12 people in the Fiddle Thread and Shell pattern. This is a charming design featuring the classic fiddle shape, thread borders and shell motifs. On the reverse, shells appear on the heads and heels of spoons and forks. The Fiddle Thread & Shell design dates from about 1810 and gained popularity in colonial America, but it is also very popular today on both sides of the pond. All pieces in this cutlery service are made by the excellent cutlery makers, Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater, in a short two-year period and the set comprises: 12 table forks 12 dessert forks 12 tablespoons 12 dessert spoons 12 teaspoons 1 basting spoon 1 gravy ladle 1 soup ladle 1 mustard spoon 1 butter knife Antique knives rarely survive so this Fiddle Thread and Shell silver flatware service is supplied with 12 pairs of matching modern silver table and dessert knives with stainless steel blades, making them dishwasher safe.
