Coast Guard Vessel "Overfalls"

About the Item

Ligthship Overfalls was launched in 1938 as LV 118. Built in East Boothbay, Maine, Overfalls was stationed at Cornfield Point, Connecticut from 1938-1957; Cross Rip, Massachusetts from 1958-1962 and Boston from 1962-1972 after which she was decommissioned. She currently is a museum and available for tours in Lewes, Delaware. The lightship was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, and in 2011 was further designated a National Historic Landmark. The model is displayed in a glass and brass trimmed showcase. Details include lifeboats, rafts, funnels, helm, bell, ladders, portholes etc... 33 x 12 x 24 1/2.
