English 19th Century Red Spirit Barrel with Gilt Motifs Made into a Table Lamp
About the Item
An English late 19th century spirit barrel with raised gilded motifs, Gin label and brass spigot made into a table lamp. This English spirit barrel lamp features a red body, exquisitely adorned with the label Gin at the top and the United Kingdom’s royal coat of arms, comprising a lion on the left and a unicorn on the right. Two knights with their armor flank this central motif, in an attitude of protection, while the bottom part is adorned with guarding lions, surrounding the brass spigot. The ensemble is raised on a giltwood base and has been mounted into a table lamp. The wiring is new and made for the US market. With its red color, contrasting beautifully with the gold motifs, this English spirit barrel lamp circa 1880 will decorate any room perfectly, perhaps placed above a chest of drawers, table or buffet.
