About the Item

Fine, 18th Century, Italian, Carved & Gilded Pricket Candlestick Upcycled Into A Table Lamp, 31½” High Finely carved with classical turnings and ornamentation, the gilding burnished to enhance the reflection of candlelight Injects classical gravitas and period atmosphere into the interior Original gilding which can be refreshed if desired Sturdy, usable condition. The conversion is recent so it conforms to UK electrical standards. Provenance : Private collection. Measures: Height to top of candlestick : 64cm., 25¼ inches Height to top of light fitting, 81cm., 32 inches Length from foot-to-foot 23cm., 9 inches. The base with baluster and mushroom turnings ornamented with acanthus leaves, scrollwork and fluting. On a large triform base characteristic of Baroque design. Retaining traces of burnished gilding.
