19th Century French Empire Charles X Egyptian Revival Gilt Bronze Table Mirror

About the Item

19th century French Empire Charles X Egyptian revival gilt bronze table mirror A sculptural stem in the shape of three females in ancient Egyptian costume standing with their backs against each other issuing from a round dish-like base with a high rim. The Egyptian karyatids' heads carry the semi-circular fixture of the mirror, which is framed by finely chased neoclassical foliate frieze. The framed mirror surface is attached to the fixture with two screws in the shape of an arrow, which allows its rotation. The back of the mirror plate does not bear another mirror. Very beautiful Egyptian Revival table mirror showing fine chasing and original patina, inspired by models of the most famous Empire period bronziers, such as P.-P. Thomire (1751-1843), A.-A. Ravrio (1759-1814) and Claude Galle (1758-1815).
