Vintage Piet Hein Eek Scrapwood Mirror
About the Item
Exceptional and very rare Scrapwood mirror of legendary sustainable design & art master, Piet Hein Eek. Hien Eek has made a name for himself since his days at the Academy for Industrial Design - Eindhoven when he first presented his final exam project, "Scrap Wood Cupboards," pieces made from reclaimed scrap lumber, which has become his most famous signature.
This mirror is a great example of Hien Eek's design ethos of moving away from mass-produced pieces and material waste, "reuse, recycle, reuse." This folding triptych mirror has small brass hinges at the exterior, a semi-painted/treated exterior front, and a raw, unfinished interior. All three mirrors have a protective film on them to prevent scratches. The front of the mirror shows heavy wear/patina and distressing, consistent with the artists original design intent.
