Short Necklace 'choker', Gold, Pearls, circa Late 19th Century
About the Item
Gold choker in its color composed of a closure on the back, a series of flat links joined together by small rings below and, to the front, a series of pearls of the same metal (alternating smooth with others decorated in light relief based on filigree circles). In front of the choker, hangs a piece very similar to those known as "loops", with movement formed by two parts: a superior (symmetrical, with filigree areas and marked vegetal memory both in its composition and in the engraved details that appear) and another lower one (this one with a composition reminiscent of a Greek cross with four larger squares than the rest, these organized towards the corners of the area, united in groups and with a certain vegetal memory in their composition and in the accompaniment of gold with which they have been fastened, in which smooth "threads" alternate with other turning, as in the other "piece" of the artist). These "bows" or "bows with crosses" (as they are known) of gold are some jewels with a long tradition in Spain, being able to find, at present, forming part of some regional or traditional costumes with the usual variations that have been imposed different fashions and the passage of time.
Size: Long chain 40 cm; “pinjante” (hanging piece): 8,5 cm (long), 5,5 cm (ancho), 1 cm aprox (depth).
