"Nemo" Armchair by F. Novembre in Metallic Gold or Silver for Driade
By Fabio Novembre, Driade
Located in Brooklyn, NY
1:8 scale miniature reproduction of the iconic "Nemo" head-armchair, designed by Fabio Novembre and manufactured by Driade.
Made in ABS and available in gold or silver metallic colors.
DIMENSIONS:
D. 3", W. 4.3", H. 6.6"
FABIO NOVEMBRE uses furniture design to tell intense and fascinating stories in which the protagonist is often the human figure. This human figure is capable of becoming abstract and universal, able to propose a mythical beauty as occurred in Greek art. So that Nemo, a face with classic features, is hollowed out to create an inhabitable space. The result is a head-armchair to be lived from the inside. Like a mask, it simultaneously conceals and reveals its inhabitant.
Fabio Novembre said about Nemo:
"In 2010 it happened that the name "Nemo" immediately evoked the famous little fish, protagonist of the movie of the same name, made by Pixar in 2003.
If this question had been asked at the end of the nineteenth century, the answer would have probably been Captain Nemo...

Vintage 1970s Vexilar Zoom Video Sonar Model 990 Nautical Ice Fishing 11"
Located in Dayton, OH
Rare vintage 1970s Vexilar Video-Sonar Model 990X. Serial Number 90430. Manufactured by BH Electronics for Vexilar Inc. The 990 was the top model, following the 330 and 660.
"Model 990 zoom video sonar presents data on a cathode ray tube with a feature that allows the operator to zero in on any target between the surface and bottom or on the bottom itself. The operator can select and expand it to any one of the zoom sizes: 7.5, 15, 45, 90, and 180, each expressed in feet, fathoms, or meters. If, for example, the 15 ft zoom size is selected the full screen will show just that 15 ft. Model 990 reads depths to 1400 ft in five ranges and draws 12 watts in continual usage on 12v to 32v DC. A freeze-action feature allows the operator to hold a particular view on the screen indefinitely and a sea bed discrimination feature distinguishes fish and schools of fish from the bottom surface, according to the manufacturer. Measuring 10" by 7" by 8", the solid state unit weighs 12 lbs and has light intensity control and a sun screen...

R. Royer 1992 28th America’s Cup Hand-Built Cased Diorama, 2009
Located in San Francisco, CA
A highly detailed and dynamic hand-built diorama by R. Royer depicting an exciting moment from the 1992 28th America’s Cup between winning yacht America³ and her challenger Il Moro di Venezia.
Both racers are finely crafted and faithfully recreated, from the lines and rigging of their sails, to the layout and livery of their decks and hulls. Even the minuscule crew members accurately depict the skippers and their mates. A convincingly liquid hand-sculpted and painted choppy, deep blue sea with white water wakes and course marker serves to really set the scene, which is most accurately represented in the video.
Likely a one-of-a-kind piece, the diorama is presented on a stepped oak base under a clear acrylic case, and labeled on both its starboard and port sides. Dimensions listed are overall; diorama excluding base and case is H 8.5 in. x W 15.5 in. x D 6 in.
Held off the coast of San Diego, California, the 28th America's Cup was contested between the winner of the 1992 Citizen Cup defender selection series, San Diego Yacht Club star America³, and the winner of the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup...
