Modern traditional inspired handmade wool rug by Doris Leslie Blau.
Size: 5'5" × 6'5" (165 × 195 cm).
Although presently made, this new rug richly draws from traditional oriental Craft. Its design was inspired by Persian aesthetics, the main field carries an all-over diamond pattern with ornaments and botanical motifs. In contrast to Classic antique Persian rugs, there are no ornamental borders and the main pattern occupies the field from edge to edge. The color palette features shades of beige and blue. The field is intentionally abrashed to enhance the final effect. Abrasion in rugs results from the use of natural dyes and traditional dyeing techniques.
In terms of workmanship, this traditional-inspired rug is second to none. It was carefully hand knotted from high-quality wool in accordance with centuries-old techniques by a skilled artisan. Due to such making, it is durable, resilient and absolutely unique. If properly maintained, the carpet will serve its owners for generations without the slightest signs of wear.
