About the Item
This woolen tapestry has a design featuring stylized birds and flowers in shades of blue. In the lower right corner, there are the initials of the designer, NE (Németh Éva). From the 1970s.
Éva Németh (1930-2019) was a Hungarian textile designer, particularly famous for rugs and tapestries. She studied at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. During the 1970s and 80s, she won textile design awards and was featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Budapest and other European cities. Many of her works incorporate animal motifs, such as birds. Her designs were produced by the Ziola company in Hungary and were primarily sold in Scandinavia, especially in Copenhagen.
