About the Item
A pair of 19th C. Louis XVI style painted fauteuils with 20th c., floral needlework upholstery on the seat, seatback and arm rests. The back of the chair is upholstered in a complementary checkered fabric.
There is a "Baron Upholstery, NY" paper tag to underside. Baron Upholstery was founded in 1980 offering design and construction of new upholstered furniture, re-upholstering existing furniture, and restoring antiques.
The chairs are comfortable to sit in and remain sturdy. The wood was repainted in a deliberately distressed style. The subsequent paint loss lends a slightly shabby chic look but the overall look is one of grace and style.
