Louis XVI Style Dining Chairs Hand-Carved in France and Assembled in Chicago COM
About the Item
For years we had been searching for a proper size and “comfortable” Louis XVI dining side chair. Finally, we discovered the perfect Louis XVI dining chair, from an original set circa 1800’s from Chateau de I’ Oise in France. The seat was just a little wider and a smidge deeper and the back relaxed a few more degrees, which made for the absolute perfect Louis XVI style dining side chair. They just sat so right, that we decided to reproduce them; not by some automated machine in the Far East, but the old fashion way, by hand and in France. Look at the radius carved corners of the seats and if you look carefully, you will see that they are slightly different and all the edges have crisp sharp carving marks, which is not what you would get by a machine-made chair. All the connections are mortise and tenon. The padding is strictly old school, meaning horsehair and shredded coco fibers, which last for decades.
**Seat height is 19.25" before being compressed.
**Measurements provided are for the side chairs. The armchairs are 38.25" high, 20" seat height. 21.25" wide and 24" deep.
