Rope Lounge Chairs attributed to Pierre Jeanneret
About the Item
Fantastic pair of sculptural teak and rope low lounge chairs attributed to Pierre Jeanneret. These chairs were sourced from Chandigarh India in the early 2000s. These exact chairs appeared in Sothebys 20th Century Design, Lot 64, June 2015 along with other Jeanneret items.
Similar in character to Jeanneret’s kangaroo chair, these beautiful rope chairs were designed for private residences in Chandigarh in the late 1950s.
It is not absolutely certain that Jeanneret designed this specific model. It’s possible a senior architect working under Jeanneret executed this design. Regardless, they are a truly stunning pair that have been expertly restored in New York City by a distinguished restoration artist. They maintain fantastic patina on the teak wood.
