18th Century Georgian Mahogany Stool

About the Item

A Good Quality Late 18th Century, English, Georgian Mahogany Stool Of Rectangular Form, Having Upholstered Seat Raised On Elegant Square Tapered Legs And Stretchers. This simple georgian mahogany stool is a great example of utilitarian, 18th century, english furniture. It is well made using good quality mahogany timbers and is just as fit for purpose as the day it was made. The fabric covering of the seat is relatively recently replaced, although there are a few small, light, minor marks to the fabric which may well be able to be cleaned out using the right product and technique. However the overall upholstery is very much sound and should one wish to just replace the fabric covering then this should be very easily and inexpensively done. It is great for a variety of spaces around the home, including as a dressing table stool, a clothes horse in the corner of the bedroom, an additional emergency seat in the living room, or even perhaps as a form of coffee table with a tray placed on top of it. As with all items which we offer for sale it has been inspected by our highly skilled, trained traditional antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale to ensure that it is in a condition which allows it to be placed stright into the home. Circa 1780. Height 20in. Width 17.5in. Depth 15in. A superb quality and extremely attractive 18th century, Chippendale period, georgian mahogany kneehole desk, having well figured rectangular top over slide, central cupboard and arrangement of drawers, retaining original rococo brass handles, raised on original shaped bracket feet. Generally, kneehole deeks are regarded as a smaller, more compact version of the more typically found pedestal desk, with some form of an arrangement of drawers around a central set recessed cupboard being the form which one can expect to come across. There are of course various different designs to be found along the same theme, but as a general rule that is the form you will usually find in a georgian kneehole desk...
