Large impressive mahogany Globe Wernicke bookcase consisting of 24 stackable parts. The cabinet has 3 different depths. This is the so-called "waterfall" arrangement. This arrangement is also characterized by the many high parts. This means there is plenty of room for large books. Completely in perfect condition. The company is best known for its modular bookcases that became popular in the early 20th century. Here's a brief history of Globe-Wernicke: Founding: Globe-Wernicke was founded as an American company in 1899 as a result of a merger between two companies: the Globe Files Company and the Wernicke Company. Globe Files Company originally produced filing cabinets, while Wernicke Company was known for its bookcases. Modular Bookcases: Globe-Wernicke became famous for its innovative modular bookcases. These bookcases were made up of individual sections with glass doors and could easily be attached or stacked together to expand book storage.
