c. 1800 Country French Buffet à Deux Corps

About the Item

Circa 1800 country French buffet à deux corps. Fruitwood. Probably from Normandy. Rococo to Neoclassical transitional style. Extensively carved - grapes & flowers, C & S scrolls & asymetrical carved medial uprights continue the Rococo tradition while the rest reflects the more contemporary neoclassicism of the time. Note the hunt motif panels on the doors with hunting horn, pouch, rifle & bird. Bottom section with replaced shelves. Original locks restored with new keys.
