Curved low cabinet in Napoleon III Regency style braces marquetry XIXth century

About the Item

Belle armoire à façade mouvementée ouvrant par deux portes galbées, les montants sont arrondis, les cotés sont évasés. La marqueterie est à décor de croisillons formés de Palissandre dans des encadrements de bois de violette. Le haut, dit en " doucine", est coiffé d'un marbre " Brèche d'Alep " aux contours mouvementés, épousant le galbe du meuble (épaisseur 3 cm). L'intérieur est raffiné, d'une qualité exceptionnelle : En effet, les étagères et les fonds sont plaquées de bois d'acajou d'une qualité très supérieure. Ce meuble est de plus entièrement démontable en huit parties grâce à des vis à tètes percées prévues à cet effet. Cette armoire est ventrue et s'impose par son volume malgré sa faible hauteur. Ce type de meuble à caractère ancien ( style Régence, vers 1720 ) sont souvent attribuables à Charles Cressent ( Musée du Louvre, Paris ), surtout lorsque les bronzes sont puissants et finement ouvragés. Les belles reproductions du XIXème siècle de ce style ne sont pas fréquentes mais remportent toujours un franc succès.

    Repaired: Nous avons restauré quelques éclats mineurs. Le marbre est restauré et solidement consolidé par des marbriers professionnels. L'ensemble est en très bon état, l'ébénisterie est de grande qualité, le meuble est lourd et stable. Wear consistent with age and use. the gilding of the bronzes is beautiful and original.
