MCM Console Cabinet & Mirror Style Lane Perception Basket Weave Warren Church

About the Item

Handsome two-piece set comprised of an entry console cabinet and matching mirror with basket weave detail done in the style of Lane Furniture from their Perception line designed by Warren C. Church. These pieces do not have a Lane tag or mark. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The top of the console has been refinished and the pair are in wonderful, restored condition with small imperfections that come with age. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa 1960s. Mid-Century Modern magnificence!!! Although unmarked these pieces are done in the style of the Perception line from Lane Furniture which was designed by Warren C. Church circa 1960s. The cabinet is comprised of walnut grooved sides, a pair of doors on the front with arched frames, basket weave panels, and sleek wood pulls. The angled sides give the top a trapezoidal shape. The tall slender mirror is framed with the same beautiful walnut and adorned with the basket weave detail both top and bottom. Absolutely perfect for your entry! With its angled back sides this cabinet and mirror are made with a narrow hall or entry in mind. This is a wonderful vintage Mid-Century Modern 1 piece lighted China cabinet, hutch, or display cabinet comprised of walnut featuring glass front doors with finger hole grooves in the molding on the top section and radio weave cane front doors with brass knobs on the lower section. It has a newly modified recessed black painted base as it encountered water at some point in its life and could not be refinished so we revamped it and modified the base. It looks wonderful!! There are glass front double doors on the upper left side and a single glass front door on the right. Behind the upper doors is a wood shelf (the bottom of the upper cabinet, top of the lower) with plate grooves and two adjustable glass shelves that run the full length of the cabinet.     Mid-Century Modern 2-piece china hutch, cabinet, or buffet by Heywood Wakefield for the Contessa Collection. Comprised of 2-pieces a top hutch & a bottom buffet in a dark cherrywood, woven wicker basket weave or caned door fronts, brass toned pulls, & slim steel legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are nicks on the left side of the buffet edge toward the front. Stiffener has been added underneath buffet as the cabinet had sagged in the middle making doors uneven. Stiffener corrected that issue. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960’s. In 1959, the Heywood Wakefield “Contessa” slogan was "Wood for warmth and grace ... steel for strength and rigidity." "Furniture of Slender Elegance." And does this China cabinet ever fit that description. The Contessa line features a darker cherrywood, gold or brass toned accents, and slim steel legs. This cabinet has 2 pieces. A bottom buffet that features brass toned pulls that open two sets of double doors. There are three drawers on the right side with a silverware tray in the top drawer. The left side is open storage. The top hutch features two rolling side doors with woven wicker basket weave, or caned, door fronts and three shelves in the center. The whole cabinet stands on slim steel legs and exudes mid-century modern magnificence! This awesome, versatile china cabinet or buffet will look amazing whether you place it in the dining room, living room, study, or the kitchen. It is adaptable enough to blend right in whether your design style leans to Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern, industrial, southwestern, or modern country. In 1897, two prominent furniture companies, Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company merged and created Heywood Brothers & Wakefield Company; the name would be shortened to Heywood-Wakefield in 1921. The new company rose to popularity in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s with its solid wood, Art Deco-inspired, mid-century modern furniture. In 1992, South Beach Furniture Company acquired the rights to the Heywood-Wakefield name. After realizing how in demand vintage Heywood Wakefield pieces were, production began on new pieces that remained true to the style, quality, and values of the original company.     Gorgeous Art Deco Revival tessellated marble with brass inlay accent strips, low console table and mirror, or it could be a coffee table and separate mirror, in the style of Maitland Smith. Excellent vintage condition. There is a tiny chip on the underside of one foot that has been repaired. There are several repairs to the marble that was done nicely and looks like age-appropriate patina. These are vintage, not new, so will have signs of use. Please see photos. Circa 1980-1990’s. Dramatic, bold, unique, and extraordinary…just a few words we can think of to describe this impressive set of bench/table and mirror. Their style is a gorgeous art deco revival but can have a little Hollywood Regency flair. They are comprised of tessellated marble in a creamy off-white with jet black detail. The highlights of this table or bench are its incredible scrolled legs, which are reminiscent of an Ionic Roman column, and the marble tessellation in the shape of banana palm fronds. It is nothing short of spectacular. And then you are presented with its matching incredible wall mirror which is framed by the same creamy off-white and black tessellated marble banana palm fronds that surrounding the mirror glass…. GORGEOUS!!!!! Making the pair simply breathtaking! Although unmarked, this set is like designs by Maitland Smith or Oggetti Designs; however, our research has not revealed the exact piece, but it is made with the same high quality and attention to detail. Plus, its versatility is awesome. There are so many ways to utilize this amazing set…you could use it as a low table and dress it with a large floral arrangement maybe a sculpture or it would be a fabulous bench with a couple of throw pillows against a wall, and the mirror hanging above. Of course, they do not have to stay together. Split them up and use the table/bench as your coffee table then hang the mirror in the hall. This pair is also perfect for a fitting room in a boutique or a dressing bench...
