Midcentury Solid Quarter Sawn Teak Storage Bookcase Cabinet in Light Honey Color

About the Item

This exquisite bookcase was made in The Netherlands around 1960. It was completely made in the finest quality quarter Sawn teak. quartersawing is a woodworking process that produces quarter-sawn or quarter-cut boards in the rip cutting of logs into lumber. Quartersawn boards have greater stability of form and size with less cupping, shrinkage across the width, shake and splitting, and other good qualities. [2] In some woods such as teak, the grain produces a decorative effect which shows a prominent ray fleck. The design of the piece incorporates elements from the rich Dutch furniture makers' tradition. Both left and right doors have strongly elevated cushions as seen in the Renaissance “Kussenkast” or cushion cabinet. The cabinet rests on beautifully carved claw and ball feet. On the interior, there are multiple adjustable shelves. This cabinet is made by a master woodworker and it is super solid. It can be disassembled to make installation easier. The piece is finished in beautiful light honey color with a deep gloss.
