18th Century Chippendale Serpentine Mahogany Commode with Writing Slide
About the Item
A splendid Chippendale serpentine mahogany commode in its original dark finish with molded edge top surmounting a conforming case with a writing slide over three graduated drawers, each featuring bold brass pulls and decorative escutcheons, and canted reeded corners, all supported by carved bracket feet. English in origin, and dates to the 18th century or early 19th century, in very good overall condition, with some surface scratches, minor losses, and imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use. One of the draw pulls is replaced. Dimensions: 31.5 in H x 39.5 in W x 21.25 in D. Ref: 715.
