Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze Mounted Marquetry and Parquetry Mahogany Bureau Plat by Henry Dasson
An elegant and extremely high quality French 19th century Louis XVI table with marquetry of a floral and fruit arrangement at the center, created using a multitude of a woods in different hues, such as a pink wood for the strawberries. By Henri Dasson, master furniture maker, this piece displays countless flawless patterns such as the basket weave mesquite parquetry and band of checkerboard pattern at the table's edge. An ormolu drawer at the center of the table is ornamented with a scene of a putti engaging in production an artist's guild. The ormolu on each drawer flanking the central figural scene has highly ornamented handles made of cornucopia. All standing on fluted, tapered legs.
