Japanese antique, black low desk/fuzukue, Meiji era , Wabisabi

About the Item

This is a Japanese antique called a 'fuzukue,' which is an old-style Japanese writing desk. Traditionally, people would sit on the floor and use this desk for writing and reading books. It was crafted in the Meiji era, which corresponds to the late 19th to early 20th century in the Western calendar (1868-1912). Despite its age, it remains in excellent condition. It can be used as functional furniture without the need for any immediate maintenance. The entire piece has been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The desk's distinctive black hue is actually a deep shade of brown, created through a process involving pine smoke and extended aging. Its beauty lies in its delicate appearance, truly embodying the essence of wabi-sabi. Weight :12.5lbs(5.7kg) Shipping Information We ship from Japan. I will provide my own shipping quote. Please ask.
