About the Item
Exquisite dark brown column or pedestal from Austria, circa 1870, the so called "Historism" period. Hand carved out of solid oak wood, this impressive pedestal shows a super dark brown almost black looking surface sealed with a traditional hand polished shellac finish. Standing solid on a lovely designed base, this unique column impresses with a twisted carved pillar and a top plate (10" x 10") building the perfect spot for representing a valuable sculpture, bust, vase or plants in a cachepot. (by the way, we do have really beautiful items, just check out our storefront).
