19th Century Column Pedestal Dark Brown Oakwood, Austria, circa 1870

About the Item

Exquisite dark brown column or pedestal from Austria, circa 1870, the so called "Historism" period. Hand carved out of solid oak wood, this impressive pedestal shows a super dark brown almost black looking surface sealed with a traditional hand polished shellac finish. Standing solid on a lovely designed base, this unique column impresses with a twisted carved pillar and a top plate (10" x 10") building the perfect spot for representing a valuable sculpture, bust, vase or plants in a cachepot.
