Antique print, titled: 'Taf. XLVII. Neophron Percnopterus, Egyptischer Aasgeier. Alt - Jung.' This plate shows the Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), also called the white scavenger vulture or pharaoh's chicken, adult and young. This original antique print originates from: "Die Raubvögel Deutschlands und des angrenzenden Mitteleuropas" by Oskar von Riesenthal. Published Gera, S. B. Griesbach 1894. Second edition of this plate set first published in 1876-78, including several much-sought depictions of falcons. "As these birds of prey are rendered with the utmost attention to detail, the description of their exterior may be confined to that which is not evident from the images or whatever is of particular noteworthiness". Julius Adolf Oskar von Riesenthal (18 September 1830 – 22 January 1898) was a German forester, ornithologist, hunter and writer. Condition: Good, given age. An occasional tiny unobtrusive spot. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
