From our New Orleans Estate Collection, we are offering this Antique 18 Karat Gold Jeweled Snake Bracelet. Featuring 2 focal Oval cut Midnight Blue Sapphires totaling 20 carats, with a total of 3.75 carats of Smaller Round cut Multi-Colored Sapphires & 4 Bezel set Round cut Natural Ruby eyes totaling 0.35 carats. The array of the Sapphire shades resembling the vibrant colors of the Blue Malaysian Coral snake .. [This particular snake grows up to 5 feet in length and has a colorful body to scare off predators, ranking #2 in the top 13 most beautiful snakes in the world] .. In ancient times, serpents were widespread as a mythological symbol, in both Egyptian & Chinese mythology, crafted into jewelry reflecting this. This particular bracelet possesses more of an Egyptian motif. In the late 19th century, Queen Victoria labeled the serpent a symbol of eternal love generating a strong interest from the masses, initiating snakes into detailed ornamental jewelry. Thus, snakes became more popular in the Victorian era, and later in Bvlgari pieces in the 1940s. However, jeweled Snakes were only acquired among the ancient Egyptian royalty. Cleopatra was the most prominent, adorned with many jeweled snake bracelets, consisting of wrist, arm & ankle bracelets. This bracelet possesses exceptionally detailed old world Hand Engraving in a floral scroll as well as a harlequin diamond pattern at Snake's heads. All stones securely set.
