A striking silver and clear and coloured paste Art Deco jabot pin, 1920s
About the Item
An exquisite and very stylish French 'jabot' pin, with a feather motif in clear and sapphire coloured pastes from the 1920s. Typical of Cartier designs of the same era, this beautiful and unusual piece evokes the highly decorative and stylised designs of this unique and truly original period of design. The pin simply pulls apart and can be worn on a coat or jacket, as easily on a hat or at the waist/hip, and is secured by a 'catch' mechanism in the smaller (lower) section that is released by a small catch on the side. A spherical onyx bead set in a silver and paste acts as a terminal to the lower segment, and a small spherical onyx bead , also in a silver and paste mount, hangs down from the lower half. The reverse of the top section is stamped '900'.
