Amazing and Unusual Art Deco Paste Dress Ornament
About the Item
Unusual Art Deco Paste Dress Ornament from the 1920's. The daring necklines of the period allowed for jewelers, both fine and faux, to experiment with ideas tailored to the latest fashions.
High quality pastes are set in a high Art Deco settings in sterling silver. The 2 motifs with triangular crystals have pin fittings so they can be worn in different configurations with the long drop extending down.
Shown on the mannequin, the motifs could have been pinned at the neckline (or on the dress) either with the motif falling from the front or down the back of the gown.
If worn pinned on the back, the wearer has only shows only one row of simple, articulated crystals around the neck, until she turns around.
Extremely unusual and wonderfully luxurious, high quality, novelty adornment made for the flapper with style to spare.
Excellent condition. 1920's France. Sterling silver french hallmarks and crystal.
