About the Item
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE ENAMEL JEWELS WE HAVE SEEN. THE VICTORIAN - ART NOUVEAU PENDANT NECKLACE IS IN THE FORM OF A CLUSTER OF GRAPES HANGING FROM THE VINE. THE GRAPES ARE A CLUSTER OF WHITE PEARLS. THE GRAPE LEAVES ARE ADORNED WITH EXQUISITE IRIDESCENT ENAMEL IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLORS WITH GREENS, YELLOWS AND PINK HUES. THE SPECTACULAR DETAILED ENAMEL IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. THE PENDANT DATES TO C1880-1910.
The grape leaves and vine are fully modeled with wonderful three dimensional elements and open work which makes this nature inspired jewel so beautiful. The Art Nouveau period was characterized by its creation of nature inspired jewels and this is one of the most beautiful pieces we have seen.
The necklace is 17 inches long.
The pendant is 1 1/4 inches (34mm) wide and is 1 inch (25mm) tall.
The chain is 14 Karat Gold. The pendant tests for 10-12 Karat Gold.
The chain may be a later addition to the piece.
