Antique H Chawmer 18th C English Georgian Sterling Silver Double-Sided Tea Caddy
About the Item
A fine antique Georgian double-sided tea caddy.
In sterling silver.
By Henry Chawmer of London, England.
Each side of the caddy has an engraved wreath cartouche below a small keyhole. The top and bottom of the body are decorated with engraved linework around the circumference. The hinged lids are also decorated with engraved patterns around the circumference, and there is an integral handle in the middle.
One of the lids has a slight smile (not closing entirely flush) that could be readily remedied by a silversmith. This is of course the collector's prerogative.
