Pretty in Pink in Watermill

The smoky-rose Murano glass chandelier that is the star of this Watermill, New York, dining room designed by David Ries and Thad Hayes was purchased by the client on 1stDibs (from Bernd Goeckler) for a previous residence, in Southampton. “The disassembly and reassembly had us all holding our breath,” says Ries, recalling the move and installation. Taking a tonal cue from the luminous glass, the pair had the walls painted Farrow and Ball’s Dead Salmon — which despite its name, Hayes finds to be “flattering to absolutely everyone.” Other highlights include a pair of Ries Hayes–designed iron and stone dining tables, a custom set of Scandinavian-style leather dining chairs, a 1940s Jean Royère cabinet (from Magen H Gallery) and an octagonal tramp art wall mirror. Time to exhale.
