Deco Drama in Brentwood

For Jeremiah Brent, mid-century French, Scandinavian modern and Art Deco furniture never gets old. To balance the contemporary open-plan architecture of this Brentwood home, he outfitted the living room with streamlined custom upholstery in mohair and alpaca, which he says “anchors the space,” mixing in vintage and vintage-influenced elements like the French Art Deco oak side table, found on 1stDibs; Jindrich Halabala’s 1930s tabouret stools; and a Triade floor lamp by Design Frères. Shaggy Icelandic modernist lounge chairs, Brent says, “reflect the client’s fondness for ice fishing and remind him of the jackets he sports.” The New York–based designer — who creates licensed collections with his husband, Nate Berkus, launched his own retail brand, Atrio, in 2022 and recently joined the cast of Netflix’s Queer Eye — also conceived the stealth wow factor for the room: a Deco-style fluted plaster fireplace that conceals a wide-screen TV.
