Romanek Design Studio
Polished yet Cuddlesome

“Livable luxe” is how the Los Angeles designer Brigette Romanek describes her signature style. (Indeed, it was the title of her recently published first book.) All the elements that make up her much-sought-after look of ultrasophisticated ease are on display in this kitchen-cum-family room in a Beverly Hills house with an extraordinary hillside prospect. “The brief was to create a space that supported the feeling of exhale that came from walking in the front door and catching sight of the view,” says Romanek. “It’s an effect we achieved through soft shapes and cozy materials.” Of course, Romanek’s cuddly furnishings are all works of exceptional design that, she says, “flow beautifully together.” Among the collectible treasures are Piet Boon’s beige mohair sectional, a looker from every angle; Angelo Mangiarotti’s super-stylish black-marble Eros coffee table from the 1960s; and Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s vintage Balloon floor lamp, which adds a touch of whimsy to the serene and inviting space.
