Business Development Executive

In just over two years, 1stdibs has grown into a destination for the world’s most beautiful New & Custom design by makers and small manufacturers all over the world, but we’re always thinking about the next initiative and strategy to drive our business further and help our customers find the world’s most beautiful design. 

In the Business Development Executive role, you’ll be on the frontlines in helping identify our most strategic supply partners, introducing them to 1stdibs, and negotiating and closing partnerships with them.  We need a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in working autonomously or in a team environment and can build impactful partnerships with the world’s most iconic design companies.

 

What you’ll do

  • Source and identify strategic supply partnership opportunities that further 1stdibs growth objectives into the New & Custom category
  • Develop meaningful executive-level relationships with partners that fit our vetting criteria and go-to-market strategy
  • Lead deal process from initial outreach to negotiation & contracting to post-close handoff to a Strategic Partnerships Manager
  • Envision new and creative ways to engage with our strategic partners that can positively impact 1stdibs business objectives
  • Manage a large partner pipeline and report on progress and forecast closes
  • Plan approaches and pitches and share information back to the broader team on what is working, especially in new market segments

 

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience, with 2-3 years of business development or sales experience
  • Has managed large, complex partnership deal processes, including contracting and negotiation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including empathic listening and an ability to synthesize information quickly
  • Strong professional presence and ability to connect with external leadership teams and decision makers at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment and work autonomously with minimal direction
  • Creative, analytical and strategic thinker
  • Bachelor's degree in English, business, and marketing majors preferred
