Product Marketing Manager, Demand

We are looking for a Product Marketing Manager to develop, shape and communicate high impact product enhancements and launches to existing and potential clients. This is a new role for us and will report to the VP of Growth Marketing and partner closely with Product Management, Research and a number of marketing teams (integrated, creative, PR, paid media, email, seller marketing, etc) to drive growth in activation, engagement and brand affinity. To be successful in this role you will have a clear understanding of our product, our segments, what motivates buyers, and the value we provide to them as well as being customer focused, creative, extremely methodical and analytical.

In this role you will play a highly strategic role shaping how we introduce users to different product features, function and messaging across all of our platforms based on where they are in their journey and what segment they fall into. You will be expected to drive the definitions around how we segment users based on behavior, create different experiences and incentives to increase activation and retention, work with our product team to build a sticky, engaging experience, and develop GTM plans as required for new product features. 

What you’ll do

  • Define both ‘launch’ and ‘ongoing’ product marketing objectives, including customer segmentation, product positioning, naming, value propositions, launch strategies and tactics for consumers shopping on 1stdibs
  • Develop the strategy and collaborate with Product, Marketing, Design, Account Management, seller product marketing and other key stakeholders to ensure the broader team is aligned toward a strategic marketing vision
  • Partner with product team on creation and evolution of trust-building features like reviews, authenticity/price/condition guarantees, and options to cancel or return
  • Drive testing agenda including exploration of different approaches to promotional pricing (negotiating on site, seller-funded sales, 1stdibs-funded promo-codes, etc)
  • Inform all marketing efforts with data and a strong understanding of customer, product, market, pricing and positioning opportunities
  • Create and execute a compelling plan with other key Marketing functions including creative services, PR, social media, seller marketing and customer marketing to meet your growth goals of activating more customers, increasing existing buyer engagement and growing brand affinity 
  • Lead internal (marketing, service, sales teams) and customer-facing education (support center, email, on-site) to insure understanding of new features
  • Review and provide marketing feedback on upcoming product features to ensure alignment and growth

What you'll bring

  • 4-7 years of experience in product marketing, product management or analytically-driven brand marketing in e-commerce/online marketplace or a start-up environment preferable
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a love of crafting solutions and solving problems with a focus on the customer
  • Excellent communication skills – both spoken and written. 
  • Curiosity, critical thinking and a reputation for asking thoughtful questions that make others better
  • High energy, charismatic, positive, innovative and creative
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to drive multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal guidance
  • Owner mentality and an entrepreneurial push; Ability to work cross-functionally and to motivate others to champion initiatives on your behalf
  • Demonstrated understanding of success across a wide spectrum of marketing activities (advertising, public relations, digital marketing, etc.) and of driving campaigns for a product launch
  • Outstanding follow-through, time management, and project management skills to deliver quantifiable and material results
  • Proven track record in performing well in a fast-paced environment and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Experience in 2-sided marketplaces, luxury goods or design marketing a plus.
  • Marketing focused Bachelor's degree or MBA preferred
